Stuart Knock

I am pursuing two interrelated lines of research, each of which incorporates multiple ongoing and planned projects. First is the development and application of novel analysis algorithms designed to detect and characterise the dynamic interdependencies between the neural activity in distinct brain regions, that are believed to underlie interactions at the large scale relevant for brain function. Second, I am working on the development of large scale models of neural activity designed to capture and thus elucidate the fundamental mechanisms of dynamic interdependence. This involves the numeric simulation of 'whole brain' network models built around a framework of physiologically derived connectivity matrices that represent the structural organisation of the brain, including both cortical and subcortical structures.
